1) What are the different forms of Ketamine?
Ketamine comes in three main forms. The most common form is white powder which is snorted. It looks like cocaine but is smoother and less likely to form hard rocks or a flowery texture if damp.Ketamine also appears intermittently in tablet or capsule form, often masquerading as a brand of Ecstasy with the same meaningless 'dove' or 'mitsubishi' logos.Ketamine is a fast-acting 'dissociative anaesthetic'. Rather than blocking pain, like traditional painkillers, it shuts off the brain from the body. With the brain no longer processing information from nerve pathways, awareness expands resulting in a hallucinogenic state. Thats what i felt.
2)What would you do if you knew your friend took ketamine?
If my friend really took ketamine,i would talk to my friend when he is much more sober. The sooner i can arrange this after a bad episode, the better. My message will have more impact while my friend is hung over than it will three days later. I will try my best to restrict my comments to what i feel and what i have experienced of my friend's behavior. Express statements that cannot be disputed. Remarks like, "Everyone's disgusted with you," or, "Jonathan thinks you have a real problem," will probably lead to arguments about Jonathan's problems or who 'everyone' is. I might try to avoid such generalizations. Convey my concern for my friend's well being with specific statements. "I want to talk to you because I am worried about you," or "Our friendship means a lot to me. I don't like to see what's been happening." I might try to emphasize the difference between sober behavior that i like and drinking behavior that i dislike. "You have the most wonderful sense of humor, but when you abuse drugs it turns into cruel sarcasm and you're not funny any more. You're mean." I defeinetely be sure to distinguish between my friends and the behavior. "I think you're a great person, but the ketamine you consume, the less you seem to care about anything." In the end, i will encourage my friend to consult with a professional to talk about his drug abusing problem. I can offer to find out more about the resources or go with them to an appointment.
